Teaching numbers
Numbers – learning them one of the first and most important achievements for every child. They are all around us and it is somehow natural to start teaching them as early as the child starts pronouncing their first words. We ususally start with their age, so they first learn one and two. In most cases the little one will just show one or two fingers when asked how old they are. Nevertheless, it is still (finger) counting numbers. Just one of the many ways you can introduce them to your kid.
Counting toys
Another way to introduce numbers is to use your child’s favorite toys and count them. If these are dolls, model cars, bears, just put a few of them in front of your little one and start counting. Then ask them to repeat after you.
Matching games
After your little one has learned the meaning and pronuciation of the numbers one to ten, you may proceed with more complex activities. These include different sorting and matching games. You can prepare your own flashcards by writing numbers on them or download free ones from here. Then ask your child to match them with objects (their toys or pictures you have drawn beforehand). This way they will realize that each digit represents a certain amount of objects. You may also consider using a number puzzle to reinforce this ability.
Color by code
